The Claremont, Subiaco and West Perth Football Districts are seeking casual staff for school clinics, umpiring, holiday clinics and other community football roles across Perth's northern suburbs. 

Available role include:

  • School Football Umpires;
  • Afterschool Football Clinic Coaching;
  • School Holiday Program Coaching;
  • School Football Coaching; and
  • Footy Fundamentals Coaching (2-5 year old program).

Essential selection criteria

  • Understanding of football relevant to the role applying for;
  • Current Working with Children Check (or evidence of application); and
  • Drivers Licence and access to own vehicle.

Desirable selection criteria

  • Coaching Qualification;
  • Experience in similar role.
  • Current first aid certificate.

Parent Umpires Required for season 2017

Junior Clubs within The West Perth Football District are seeking nominations for parent umpires for all Year 3 and 4 teams for the upcoming 2017 season starting on Sunday 30 April. 

Each team is required to provide 2 – 4 parent umpires per team to assist with umpiring on a weekly basis.  Courses are provided to nominees on the following dates:

  • Sunday 2 April, 2017 - 9am to 11am - HBF Arena Joondalup, Sports Bar. 
  • Thursday 20 April, 2017 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm - HBF Arena Joondalup, Sports Bar. 
  • Wednesday 10 May, 2017 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm - HBF Arena Joondalup, Sports Bar. 

Please note:  You must attend one of the above courses to be eligible as a Parent Umpire in season 2017.  If you have previously been a Parent Umpire in 2014, 2015 or 2016, please also register and provide us with your umpiring history.

Bounce Down 2017 - Season Launch with special guest Maggie Dent

Registrations are now open for Bounce Down 2017 - Season Launch. Clubs are asked to invite Coaches and Managers from the Year 7 - Year 12 competitions playing in the Northern Conference (Claremont, Subiaco and West Perth Competitions) as well as club committee members.


Each team is required to have at least one of the following in attendance:

  • Coach (Preferred)
  • Team Manager
  • Assistant Coach

(all three positions can attend if desired)

Note: It is a requirement that each team has a representative in attendance in order to field a team for season 2017.


Club President, Coach Coordinator and Executive Committees are encouraged to attend.  


Each team will be provided with a coaching clip-board, Junior Club Manual, 2017 By-Laws and Bounce Down Conference Pack at the conclusion of the evening (one per team). A team representative (as per roles listed above) must be in attendance to collect the team pack.

About Maggie:

Commonly known as Australia’s “queen of common sense”, Maggie Dent is an author, educator, and parenting and resilience specialist with a particular interest in the early years and adolescence.


Maggie’s experience includes teaching, counselling, and working in palliative care/funeral services and suicide prevention. Maggie is an advocate for the healthy, common-sense raising of children in order to strengthen families and communities. She is a passionate, positive voice for children of all ages.

The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) is the peak Australian Rules Football body in Western Australia and is the caretaker of football throughout the State. It is responsible for the overall development of the game across the community.

The WAFC is a not for profit organisation that plays an important role in funding the on-going development of football in all communities. This ensures that football is the best resourced sporting code in the State and can have the most active role in building better communities through various development programs.

We now have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as Development Officer in our Metro North team growing our great game in the Claremont District on a twelve (12) month fixed term contract.  The position is located primarily in Claremont and will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of broad-based participation programs fundamental to the strategic and operational objectives of the WAFC and the Claremont District.

Applicants should be prepared to be actively involved in all participation activities and develop exciting new initiatives in order to grow football within the district.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Football and Game Development, including Player, Coach, Umpire, Club and Volunteer Education.
  • Promoting the District and associated stakeholders.
  • Advocate all game segments including Female, Aboriginal and Multicultural
  • Working closely with volunteer leaders, community football & school stakeholders, and WAFL club leaders.
  • Assisting with Football events including the planning, organizing and oversight of initiatives to best represent the WAFC and District throughout the community.

Essential selection criteria include:

  • Alignment to our values of – Team | Respect | Passion | Professionalism | Leadership
  • Sports Related Degree or Certificate IV Sport Development or related position experience.
  • Ability to lead and interact confidently with groups of participants, volunteers and stakeholders.
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills including speaking to groups and audiences.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong Computer literacy, including MS Office, email, Social Medial and Website comprehension.
  • Able to work outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Current WA Drivers License.
  • WWC Card

Desirable selection criteria include:

  • Level 1, 2 or 3 AFL Coaching Accreditation.
  • Level 1 Umpiring Accreditation.
  • Knowledge of the WA Football structure including the District Football Development Model and JCC.
  • Knowledge of the Claremont District, including factors that may influence the Football environments within it.
  • Knowledge of sporting environments at club, school, district or state level.

The successful applicant will receive a competitive remuneration package including a fully maintained vehicle and phone, as well as the opportunity to work in Australia’s premier sporting industry.

PlayAFL in Falcons District in 2017

Junior Age groups range from Auskick- Year 12. Our Female Football teams start at Junior Girls (4-6) and culminate at Youth Girls (7-10).  Senior Football follows Year 12 Football to Veterans.

Auskick (PP-Year 2)

NAB AFL Auskick makes learning to play Australian Football fun, safe and easy for boys and girls. Through weekly coaching sessions they will learn the skills of the game in an exciting, social and safe environment.

Modified Juniors (Year 3-Year 6)

Junior football provides boys and girls the opportunity to make friends, keep active and learn new skills in a supportive environment. Junior Football involves a fixture of matches in a team environment. Played on smaller grounds, the rules are tailored to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all involved.

Youth Football (Year 7- Year 12)

Youth Football provides teenagers the opportunity to play Australian rules football in an open rules environment. Competing on full size grounds, a series of matches are fixtured across the Northern Conference. Teams will compete in finals for the first time, helping prepare top aged youth players for senior football.

Female Football is a great way for girls and women to make friends, keep active and learn new skills. GET INVOLVED - WA Female Football

There are female football competitions for all ages and abilties in Western Australia, starting at Auskick for Pre-Primary participants through to juniors based on primary school year groups, Youth Girls for highschool aged players and senior women's competitions.

As a member of a local junior club, the West Perth Football Club offer a discounted family membership - the Flock of Falcons for $300.00 (normally $460.00). 


2017 West Perth Football Club Membership for two x Falcon Fanatics / Falconettes and two x Future Falcons / Fledgling Falcons.

KidSport: Enabling WA children to participate in community sport and recreation

KidSport enables eligible Western Australian children aged 5-18 years to participate in community sport and recreation by offering them financial assistance towards club fees.

KidSport applications are now available online if you hold a valid Health Care or Pensioner Concession card. Hard copy applications are still available and can be submitted to your Local Government.

What are the eligibility criteria?

  • Applicant must be aged 5-18 years.
  • Applicant must have a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card OR meet one of the four KidSport Financial Exceptions.
  • Applicant's primary place of residence must be in the local government area they are applying to.

What else?

  • Funding will cover the cost of fees to join the nominated sport or recreation club (this may include other club-related costs, such as equipment and uniform as identified by the club and approved by the local government).
  • Maximum of up to $200 per child per calendar year.
  • Fees are only for the nominated registered season.
  • No retrospective fees will be paid.
  • No limitation to the number of applications per family as long as the eligibility criteria for each child is met.

Changes to KidSport

1. Applicants listed on a valid Health Care or Pensioner Concession card should now:

  • Apply online on the Department's website or
  • Submit a KidSport application form and a copy of the card to their local government.

2. KidSport no longer has referral agents.

  • Applicants not listed on a valid concession card need to meet one of the new KidSport Financial Exceptions.
  • If you meet an exception you can apply for KidSport through a KidSport Financial Assessor.
