GRAND FINAL BIRTH FOR NEWLY FOUNDED SEAHAWKS, "A DREAM COME TRUE" FOR PRESIDENT!

Last weekend dreams were made to come true for the Alkimos Seahawks Metro Football Team as they ran out  1 point winners in the qualifying final against the Midland Tigers in the division 2 Metro League. After a last second goal to beat the Innaloo Bulldogs by 5 points in the first week of the finals, the Alkimos Seahawks now find themselves preparing for the clubs first ever Grand Final after only their second season in the competition.

After finishing runners up in the division 2 Metro League competition club president Doug Thorncroft said it is a dream come true. “For us the Alkimos Seahawks AFL Club to be playing in our first Grand Final after only being established for two seasons is above and beyond my hopes and dreams, this is just the beginning of what is going to be a proud memorable moment for Alkimos.”

The continued growth of the team has been a key factor in the recent success of the club.

With the quality amongst the playing group growing it’s no surprise the Seahawks have made it to the final prevailing in what was two very hot and closely contested games. “It was Déjà vu on last week’s game, it was goal for goal with only points in it, the boy’s stood tall and didn’t give in. Remarkably Jarryd Sewell who has been a game changer so many times this season stuck his head up and kicked the winning goal right at the deaths knock again.”

The Seahawks ran out victors against the tigers 17-4 (106) to 17.3 (105). With a star performance from Stanley Shea kicking 7 goals, and trebles from both Paul Jury and Justin Melodinis, the Seahawks will be counting on this form to continue into next week’s Grand Final.

“My prediction on the score is a close one who ever we play; history shows it may be a 1 point game. My advice to the boys is to savour the moment, relax and switch on, don't get ahead of your selves and just play your natural game but do it flawlessly for 100 minutes.”

The grand final is set to take place on Sunday 13th of September at Robinson Reserve in Tuart Hill. Bounce down is at 12 noon. With only a $5 entry fee it is definitely a game worth checking out.

With history supporting a very close and exciting contest, it is expected to be one for the ages. Whatever the result may be it has been an amazing second season for the Alkimos Seahawks and there is no doubt the club will do itself proud next weekend as they have done all season…
