Current Role: Community Engagement Coordinator, Metro North

The WA Football Commission, Falcons, Lions and Tigers Districts are excited to welcome Community Engagement Coordinator Bella Ndayikeze to the team.

Bella provides a pivotal role in the already successful Edmund Rice Lions program and the Butler Falcons and currently plays footy with the Joondalup Womens Football Club.

About Bella:

Born in Burundi, Bella moved to in Australia in 2005 and has been living in Perth for a long time and adapting to the Australian Culture independently,

Bella got into Footy at the age of 14 when she joined the Edmund Rice Centre Youth Programs in 2010 and did a lot of sports like AFL, Basketball and Soccer.

In that year the Edmund Rice Centre were doing a Multicultural AFL program with the West Australian Football Commission, where she got involved in the program later in the year. "at their presentation night I became inspired somehow" Bella tells us and "in 2011 I became a Youth Leader and learned a lot about life and the different ways to approach life and one of the Leadership lessons was to take new opportunities if they present themselves, surprisingly I was asked to Coach the Edmund Rice Lions in 2011. It was weird because I had no idea what AFL was but I gave it ago. I complained a lot while learning Australia’s game, eventually a year later I coached my own team and went from there.”

Bella is very passionate about sport in general because "it’s a vehicle to so much in life, AFL stands out because it’s given me so much like friendships, inspirations to grow more in life, especially running now managing the Edmund Rice Lions program has enhanced my knowledge of the game and has given me a reason to continue to serve the community”

Bella comes to Metro North with a wealth of experience having held the role of AFL Sporst Ready trainee with the WA Football Commission for the last two years where she completed a Cert IV in Sport Development.

“I am excited to expand from my Trainee position to a coordinator role, because it gives me more access to the community and growth of the area I am allocated to, it’s more exciting because I own these community programs, not on a personal level but my experience with the community and the people supporting me to influence diversity groups”
