Falcon's Holiday Clinic Fun!!

Wednesday, April 18, 2018 - 9:11 PM

On Tuesday the 17th of April 2018,  West Perth’s home ground at HBF Arena was transformed into ‘Kid Central’ ahead of the April School Holiday Clinic. The day saw over 100 boys and girls from pre-primary to Year 6 make their way onto West Perth’s oval to experience a fun filled day of footy, coached by none other than West Perth’s senior players! Our local football legends did an exceptional job throughout the day, rotating participants around 9 activity stations, while giving their young charges a unique opportunity to pick their footballing brains.

The nine stations covered all things footy and fun including fundamental football skills such as handballing, kicking, marking and tackling, all incorporated into exciting games and activities. The kids also participated in a modified match and experienced what it would be like to be a West Perth league player when they received a tour of the brand new West Perth Football Club facility. This multi storey, AFL grade facility was completed in December 2017 and provided the kids with an insight into the high-quality equipment and technology available at WAFL level within the West Perth Football Club. This gave our lucky participants the ability to feel what it would be like if they ever pull on the mighty Red and Blue.

The weather gods were shining all day, delivering prime conditions for footy. A pleasant 24 degrees with slight cloud cover and not a breath of wind in sight. It was great to see everyone decked out in their footy gear, some opting to show their pride for their favourite AFL team or for others, their favourite WAFL team West Perth, while some displayed local pride by wearing their junior club colours. At the end of the day, all the girls and boys who attended were presented with a West Perth Junior membership pack. This pack included a football, club membership and a variety of West Perth merchandise.

It was so good to see the kids supporting not only football within WA but within our local communities as well. The biggest highlight of the day however, was seeing the smiles on the faces of the young boys and girls. What a great way to kickstart the April school holidays and the 2018 junior football season.
